About
As part of his diploma thesis, Mike developed a board game called “4Kings” in 2005, for which the first serious sculpting work was created in the form of 1/6 scale busts. In 2006, the miniature forge Cryptlock was founded. In the years that followed, countless commissioned works were produced alongside the in-house series, including projects for Tabletop-Art, Grey Funnel Line, Masquerade Miniatures, Dragon’s Cave, Thomarillion, Inner Sphere, WizKids, Ribbecke Miniaturen, Götterdämmerung, and several others.
After a longer break from sculpting, Mike decided to work on a larger scale in the future. Following a number of statuettes and 1/6 scale busts (yes, “back to the roots”), the idea for 9töter was finally born: 1/3 scale busts based on some ideas from the Cryptlock miniatures. Mike’s son Martin, who is currently studying game design, also regularly contributes new approaches to the development of the concepts.
These are models with their own background stories, presented on a designed wall console or base—and, this time something new, fully painted. We also refer to these busts as “Heads and Tales” (derived from “Heads or Tails”) or simply “Heads,” because Mike is not particularly fond of the word “busts.”
A few years ago, Mike also began misusing a chainsaw for carving together with his buddy Tom, and in 2024 chainsaw carving was officially added to the program.
